Adventures in Arkansas

10 May

It’s definitely on my bucket list to visit all 50 states at least once. I crossed off many of them as a kid during family travels, and this past week I was able to cross off another one. I found myself in the heart of Arkansas for a work trip with one of my clients. I’m not exactly sure what I envisioned it would be like, but I’m happy to say it was not at all what I expected.

Although we were staying in Little Rock, we spent the majority of our time in Roland at the Moss Mountain Farm. This was one of the most beautiful farms I’ve ever visited. From the rolling hills, to the view of the Arkansas River, to all the incredible landscapes, it might just be the most beautiful place in the state.

The Moss Mountain Farm is home to P. Allen Smith, a designer and gardening expert. It was really great meeting Allen and touring a place he is so passionate about. He had a story for everything, and you could really see how much thought was put into designing and rebuilding the farm. It was so fun exploring the different gardens, visiting with various animals and taking in the natural scenery.

I would definitely love to visit Arkansas again, although next time I’d like to further explore Little Rock. There just wasn’t enough time this trip.

Have you ever been to Arkansas? What did you think?

Wow. That doesn’t look like the Arkansas of my imagination either. I have been to 47 states – I still need Arkansas. Next trip – take me!

You’re almost done! I’ve visited 26 so far. Definitely recommend Arkansas, but be prepared for HOT weather.
