Travel plans

27 Mar

Happy Friday! How was everyone’s first week of spring? It’s still a bit cold here, but the snow has melted and it has certainly lifted my spirits. Today I have travel on the brain, and I’m looking forward all the trips I have planned.

There’s nothing better than counting down the days to my next trip. Here’s where I’m heading this year if you’re interested…

Chapel Hill NC | www.the-wild-child.com

I’m taking my annual trip to visit my best friend Lindsay in Chapel Thrill. I leave a week from today! We’re planning a full weekend, and I see hiking, trampolining, camp songs and so much laughter in my future.

Playa Mujeres, Mexico | www.the-wild-child.com

This is the trip I’ve been dreaming about for months. Sebastian and I will be spending five glorious days at an all-inclusive resort in Mexico.

Beach. Mojitos. Sunshine. I’ll say no more.

During a random conversation, a group of us decided to go to the Kentucky Derby this year. I’m so excited for this weekend! Picture this: giant hats, mint juleps and a spectacular race. What’s not to love?

New York City | www.the-wild-child.com

Is there anything better than a girls’ weekend? How about a girls’ weekend in NYC?! I’m going with some girlfriends who have never been before over Memorial Day weekend, and their excitement for the trip is contagious.

Cedar Point| www.the-wild-child.com

Don’t underestimate what’s in your own backyard! I plan to use some of my holiday time around the fourth of July to spend a day at Cedar Point. I love that we have amazing roller coasters so close to home.

Boston | www.the-wild-child.com

My cousin Alli is getting married near Boston, and I wouldn’t miss the wedding (or an opportunity to visit the city again). I’m looking forward to celebrating the happy couple and eating lots of seafood. If everything works out, Sebastian and I will stay a few extra days to check out Cape Cod, too.

Colorado Springs | www.the-wild-child.com

I wasn’t going to make the trek to Colorado this year, but I didn’t want to miss an opportunity for my family to be together. With both my siblings living out West these moments are rare. It should be a fun Labor Day weekend with my favorite people.

Rome, Italy | www.the-wild-child.com

I try to go to Europe at least once a year. It’s only fair since Sebastian comes here so often. We’ve talked about traveling to Scotland since neither of us have been, but lately I have Italy on the brain. Part of me wants to spend time in Rome again. I have daydreams of a late fall trip filled with great wine, amazing food and a beautiful city.

Add in all the work trips I have this summer, a few Ohio wedding weekends, plus somewhere for NYE and I think I’m set for the year.

2014 travel plans

28 Feb

Surprise! It’s snowing again in Ohio… All this cold weather has me longing for warmer days and vacation getaways. I love travel planning and daydreaming about all the places I’ll explore. Here’s where I’m planning to head this year…

– Chapel Hill, NC, in March –

Chapel Hill, NC | www.the-wild-child.com

I can’t wait to visit my dear friend Lindsay in Chapel Hill. I made it there a couple of years ago, and I’ll be heading back next week. The last visit was so lovely. I can only imagine the shenanigans we’ll get into this time around.

– Boston, MA, in April –

Fenway Park

My little brother is running the Boston Marathon with his squadron – what better reason to visit? And we’ll get the chance to hang out with my cousin Alli as well.  We’re planning to attend a game at Fenway Park, and I really hope we do the Sam Adams Brewery tour.

– Berlin, Germany in May –

The bf and I still haven’t decided if we’re staying in Germany or heading somewhere else, but I’m kind of liking the idea of a staycation in Berlin. Mainly because I have a list of at least ten new restaurants I want to try. And we could do a few day trips to Hamburg or other neighboring cities that I have yet to visit.

– Eugene, OR, in July –

Eugene, OR | www.the-wild-child.com

I’m so excited for this trip! My cousin Kelsey and I will be visiting my sister over the 4th, and I know it’s going to be a blast. Can’t wait to check out Eugene and Portland and see why my sister loves Oregon so much.

– Colorado Springs, CO, in August –

I had such a great time with my family last year, so I’m heading back to the US Air Force Academy for Parents Weekend. Hopefully Sebastian will join us this year! We’re all renting a big house together in Colorado Springs – good times are guaranteed.

– San Francisco, CA, in September –

After a weekend in Colorado, I’m hoping Sebastian and I can do a California trip. I really want to visit San Francisco again or maybe do a wine tour in Northern Cali. Endless options here.

– TBD trip in November –

La Romana | www.the-wild-child.com

Every few years I end up doing a mini-vacation around Thanksgiving. I don’t know where I want to go yet, but maybe somewhere warm. It will probably be snowing by then or at least cold. Caribbean anyone?

– Europe for NYE –

These past two years, Sebastian has visited the states over the holidays, so I’m thinking a trip to see him would be nice. The last time I was in Europe for New Year’s Eve, we spent it in Berlin. I wouldn’t mind visiting again.

Throw in a few wedding weekends, work trips and last-minute decisions to visit friends – this is sure to be another great year of travel.

What about you? Where are you heading this year?
